Rosa, a charming young woman from the slums of Mexico, falls in love with the wealthy town fuckboy who uses her for a revenge prank on his sister. Ahhhh, young love. This classic love story comes to us via godmother of telenovelas Ines Rodena, who wrote the two novelas La Gata and La Indomable that were used as the basis of Rosa Salvaje, produced by Televisa in 1987. Veronica Castro and Laura Zapata, knocked this one out of the park as Rosa, and the evil, Dulcina, respectively. Utilizing ALL the classic novela tropes of the late 80's Rosa Salvaje stands as an icon of Mexican telenovela culture.

Delighted to share my chat with the inspiring writer/producer Gabby Lugo.
We met at a networking event, were quickly magnetized to each other and bonded over the various parallels in our paths. Talking to Gabby felt like talking to a mirror, at times.
After finding major success as a line producer on projects like the short for Damien Chazelle’s film Whiplash and the hit Palm Springs, she was faced with making a decision that would have most creatives shaking in their boots:
Should she continue on the lucrative line-producing path, or turn down her financial safety net and pursue her true passion for writing?
Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I came to the country undocumented with my mother. We lived in Texas for several years while she tried to be a student and work multiple jobs including one at the 7-11, which I thought was cool until she wouldn’t give me free slurpees. We lived with my grandparents and my uncle in a small house and life was pretty quiet and simple. Eventually, it became safer to go back home to Nicaragua and at this point nearly a teenager, I had become so much more Americanized and had a hard time adapting.
